Reviews

Not going to do a chronological review of TD, as others do it...anyway reviews are biased to the time one joins the TD canon. No thoughts here on any TD music 1990 to 2001 or much on the 80s (although I do enjoy a majority of that era).....as my real love is from 1970. to 1980.

Plus, I despise how the www has made everyone a critic and everyone an expert...sometimes silence is golden, although I will review something if I want to.

Keyboard warriors

Its a big big risk becoming online. Back in 1989 when I first had contact with the internet (via email when I worked in the IT dept of a F&HE College) and when I first plugged into the web in 1994 via a very very very slow dial up via navigator and mosaic......I had no idea that now we would live out our lives, thoughts, humanity on line in social networks.....a world where faceless 'keyboard warriors' (thanks to Richard for the term......) can assume to know you and comment on everything. I have numerous emails having a go at me, from people I have never met or mails from people I barely know, telling me either what to think or how to behave. What makes me laugh is that since 2003 when I decided to join the official TD forum as 'bigmoog', that all my 'enemies' are just annoyed at a 'virtual' persona, one that does not exist except in type on a screen. The real person is just that, a real person. I first formed the BM persona as a surreal jab against the years of online stupidity that I saw on TD forums and at the yahoo mailing list. Little did I know that the many fans who are online took a dislike to 'BM', most never have the guts to tell me to my face of course as I am at most TD gigs and fan meets. Still, over the years I have met some really good people, friendly and sincere. Its all about the music, not EGO......but then the www in 2010 is all EGO, we live our lives in the glare of an unfolding denuding of our private selves and that makes us more vulnerable than ever.
